Acoustic Ladyland, dat werd geformeerd in 2001, bracht hun eerste cd Camouflage uit in 2004. Een album geïnspireerd door stukken van Jimi Hendrix. De grote doorbraak kwam in 2005, met het tweede album: Last Chance Disco. Een cd met uitsluitend eigen composities, die tot album van het jaar werd gebombardeerd door het blad Jazzwise. In hetzelfde jaar won Acoustic Ladyland de BBC Jazz Award voor beste band van 2005.
De band houdt ervan om met conventies te spelen. Komende uit de jazztraditie met een pittige post-punk invloed, creëert Acoustic Ladyland stevige, intense pop-rock-jazz.
