De ster van Aki Rissanen (1980, Kuopio) is snel rijzende. De Finse pianist behoort inmiddels tot de top van de Finse jazz. Hoewel hij oorspronkelijk klassiek is opgeleid, heeft hij altijd een zwak gehad voor geïmproviseerde muziek. Naast zijn tweede prijs in de solo pianocompetitie van het Montreux Jazz Festival, werd Aki vooral bekend door zijn samenwerkingen met Dave Liebman en Verneri Pohjola. De pianist bracht inmiddels acht albums uit onder zijn eigen naam en krijgt steeds meer aandacht in de Europese jazzscene.
