Jazzgitarist Peter Bernstein maakt sinds 1989 deel uit van de bloeiende New Yorkse jazzscene. Hij nam deel aan talrijke opnamesessies en concerten met musici van alle generaties, en verscheen in groepen van onder anderen Sonny Rollins, Bobby Hutcherson, George Coleman, Lou Donaldson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Fathead Newman, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Diana Krall, Lee Konitz en Jimmy Cobb.
Als bandleider bracht Peter zelf twaalf albums uit. De meest recente projecten omvatten een soloplaat, Solo Guitar – Live at Smalls, de albums Let Loose met Gerald Clayton, Doug Weiss en Bill Stewart en Signs LIVE!, met Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride en Gregory Hutchinson, alsook het veelgeprezen trio met organist Larry Goldings en drummer Bill Stewart dat al bijna dertig jaar wereldwijd toert. Ze stonden twee keer in LantarenVenster!
