Een dakloze man wordt door deurwaarder Orsolya uit een gebouw gezet en pleegt uit wanhoop zelfmoord. Orsolya voelt zich medeplichtig en kan niet met dit schuldgevoel leven. Ze raakt in een morele crisis waar ze koste wat kost uit wil komen, en zoekt al worstelend wanhopig naar advies bij vrienden, minnaars en andere bekenden. Elk gesprek toont een andere laag in de psyche van de eigentijdse Roemeense samenleving. Maar de film is meer dan het portret van een persoon of een land: Kontinental ’25 laat zich lezen als een zwarte komedie over de menselijke conditie in het neo-liberale tijdperk.
A homeless man is evicted from a building by Bailiff Orsolya and takes his own life in despair. Orsolya feels complicit and cannot live with the guilt. She falls into a moral crisis she is determined to escape and, while struggling, desperately seeks advice from friends, lovers and other acquaintances. Each conversation reveals a different layer in the psyche of contemporary Romanian society. But the film is more than the portrait of a person or acountry: Kontinental ’25 can be read as a black comedy about the human condition in theneo-liberal era.
