Baaibuurt West was een woon- en vrijplaats voor een bijzondere mix van kunstenaars,studenten en andere vrije geesten, totdat de buurt eind 2024 werd gesloopt voor een nieuwe woonwijk in Amsterdam. Filmmaker Mirte Jepma volgde tijdens de laatste zes maanden de hechte gemeenschap, die goed voor elkaar zorgde en een leefomgeving creëerde waarin iedereen kon floreren. Hoe kan het dat een progressief stadsbestuur, dat inclusiviteit predikt, de woongemeenschap in Baaibuurt West zonder pardon lijkt te negeren?
Baaibuurt West was a residential and free space for a special mix of artists, students and other free spirits, until the neighbourhood was demolished at the end of 2024 to make way for a new housing development in Amsterdam. Filmmaker Mirte Jepma followed the close knit community during its final six months, as they looked after one another and created aliving environment in which everyone could thrive. How is it possible that a progressive city council, which preaches inclusivity, seems to ignore the housing community in Baaibuurt West without hesitation?
