At 77, Tereza, born and raised in a small industrial town on the edge of the Amazon, is suddenly ordered to leave her home. The state forces her into a so-called “senior colony,” a place where the elderly are expected to “enjoy” their final years so that the younger generation can devote themselves fully to growth and productivity. But Tereza refuses to surrender her freedom. Instead, she embarks on a clandestine boat journey through the Amazon. What follows is a passage through lush landscapes filled with obstacles, unexpected encounters, and a growing realization that freedom knows no age.

The Blue Trail is a rebellious road movie by Gabriel Mascaro (Neon Bull) about aging, resistance, and the right to keep dreaming. Blending social urgency with a lyrical, visually rich style, the Brazilian film reveals another face of growing old. This year, The Blue Trail won the Silver Bear (Grand Jury Prize) at the Berlinale and has been widely acclaimed internationally.
