After serving 15 years in prison for a bank robbery, Anker is released, determined to reclaim his loot. The only person who knows where the money is buried is his brother Manfred. Unfortunately, Manfred has developed a psychological disorder that causes him to forget everything. One moment he believes he is a Viking, the next he’s the reincarnated John Lennon.
Together, the brothers set off on a chaotic hunt for the money, while a bloodthirsty rival is hot on their trail. But along the way, they come to realize that the loot is only the beginning of their quest. What they really need to rediscover is each other… and themselves.
In this wildly absurd yet heartwarming black comedy by director Anders Thomas Jensen (featuring, among others, Mads Mikkelsen as Manfred), slapstick, violence, and tragedy collide, always with a touch of absurdity and big questions about who we really are.
