With slogans like “Heterosexuality is the opiate of the masses,” LaBruce takes aim not only at heteronormativity, but also at political dogma and revolutionary machismo. Provocative? Absolutely. Serious? Not always. It’s precisely in this playful collision of porn, propaganda, and absurdist humor that the film finds its power.
