Aan de Deense kunst ligt het dorpje Stubbekøbing. De bevolking krimpt en er is weinig te beleven. Een grote graansilo, al jaren verlaten, reist uit boven de huizen. Een groep kunstenaars uit Berlijn en Kopenhagen, onder leiding van Danh Vo, ziet potentie in deze betonnen constructie. Met Projekt4850, een plek voor hedendaagse kunst, willen ze het dorp revitaliseren. De lokale bevolking ziet het echter met lede ogen aan. Met gevoel voor humor toont regisseur Carina Randløv de frictie tussen de geprivilegieerde buitenstaanders en sceptische lokale bewoners. Beiden hebben moeite zich tot elkaar te verhouden. The Silo and Us geeft een heerlijk beeld van goede intenties tegenover een lastige realiteit, en de transformatieve mogelijkheden van kunst.
The Danish coastal town of Stubbekøbing has a shrinking population and little to offer its remaining residents. Towering above the houses stands a grain silo that has been abandoned for years. A group of artists from Berlin and Copenhagen, led by Danh Vo, see untapped potential in the concrete structure. Through Projekt4850, a new centre for contemporary art, they hope to revitalize the town. The local community, however, views the project with scepticism. With a gentle sense of humour, director Carina Randløv captures the friction between privileged outsiders and doubtful local residents, both of whom struggle to understand one another. The Silo and Us offers a charming portrait of good intentions meeting difficult realities, and of art’s power to transform places and perspectives.

In a small town in New Zealand stands The Temple of Kinetic Resonance. This gleaming, kinetic building is a museum devoted entirely to the work of pioneering kinetic artist Len Lye. Because the design divided local opinion, its construction was anything but straightforward. The result is a fascinating story about the making of an extraordinary building.
