Precise Poetry
Lina Bo Bardi was een sterke architecte die een belangrijke stempel gedrukt heeft op de Braziliaanse architectuurgeschiedenis. Architectuur is een publieke ‘dienst’, architecten staan in dienst van de maatschappij. Veel van haar gebouwen hebben dan ook een publiek karakter, het zijn eerder straten die tot gebouwen zijn gevouwen.
De eenvoud, schaal, soberheid in esthetiek, integraliteit van gebouw, maatschappij en natuur komen goed aan bod in de film. Het is geen cinematografisch hoogstandje, maar wel een prima introductie op het indrukwekkende oeuvre van Bo Bardi.

Lina Bo Bardi was a strong architect who left an indelible mark on Brazilian architectural history. Architecture is a public ‘service’, and architects serve society. That’s why many of her buildings are public in character. In fact, they are more like streets that have been folded into buildings.
The film deals extremely well with the simplicity, scale and aesthetic sobriety of her work, as well as its integration of building, society and nature. Though not a cinematographic tour de force, the film is a fine introduction to the impressive body of work by Bo Bardi.
