The 30th of October, 2015. A nightmare takes place in nightclub Colectiv in Bucharest when a massive fire erupts. It turns out to be one of the biggest disasters in Romanian history, with 27 deaths and 180 injured. Big protests follow and the social democratic government decides to step down.

Director Alexander Nanau follows and talks to some key players in the aftermath of the disaster. After the fire even more nightclubbers die in hospitals from bacterial infections. Nanau interviews journalists from national newspapers, who discover that some Romanian hospitals use watered down desinfectants. Higher up Nanau talks to the minister of Health who has a seat in the then technocratic government. And finally, he visits the victims who survived, people that become the symbol of a corrupt healthcare system in a dysfunctional state.

Nanau shies away from sensation and big emotions in this impressive film. He shows the face of Romanian corruption with great care and poise.
