Mandibules - Expat Cinema Rotterdam

Quentin Dupieux
Miss seeing international films because you can’t yet keep up with the Dutch subtitles? Want to meet fellow expats and new Dutch folks? Love cinema? Then this is the event for you! Curated international films with English subtitles & meetup drinks afterwards.

You are more likely to catch flies with honey than vinegar, but a few cans of cat food go a long way too, discover Manu and Jean-Gab. The two layabouts are heroes in this new film by master absurdist Quentin Dupieux (Reality, Deerskin). They aren’t the brightest, but they wouldn’t hurt a fly. Definitely not the huge Labrador-sized fly they find in the boot of an old car.

Manu stole the rattletrap for another scheme, which they quickly forget about when Jean-Gab has the amazing idea of training the fly. That must be worth its weight in gold. The duo, captivatingly played by Grégoire Ludig and David Marsais, have great chemistry. The film joyously goes off on tangents just like the easily distracted duo: focused chaos.
