The screening of Drive my Car with English subtitles on April 3 is sold out, so we have added a second screening on Sunday April 10 at 7 PM.
Stage director Yûsuke Kafuku loses his wife Oto. Two years after her death the mourning Kafuku receives an offer to direct a big play in Hiroshima. The theatre company has also found a way for Kafuku to travel fast: he gets his own private taxi driver, the stoic Misaki and her bright red Saab 900.
Kafuku and Misaki spend a great deal of time together in the car. During those Hiroshima-rides Kafuku is confronted with the mystery surrounding the death of his wife, a mystery that haunts him to this day.
Drive My Car is directed by Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi and is based on the epynomous story by Japanese writer Haruki Marukami. Hamaguchi is a rising star in the Japanese scene after films as Asaka I & II and Wheel of Fortune and Fantasy.
