Maar uit de as van de oorlogen herrijzen nieuwe steden. Vier jonge mensen in Beirut, Kigali, Sarajevo en Medellín worden geportretteerd terwijl zij een nieuw leven opbouwen.
De film toont hun veerkracht en hun poging om zich tot het verleden proberen te verhouden. Hoe het verleden een grote rol speelt in het collectieve geheugen, maar ook de basis vormt van waaruit de ziel van de nieuwe stad wordt opgebouwd.

Four young people in Beirut, Kigali, Sarajevo and Medellín are portrayed as they build up new lives. The film shows their resilience and their efforts to come to terms with the past. How the past plays an important role in the collective memory, but also forms the basis from which the soul of a new city is constructed.
