Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma - Queer Cinema Preview

Jane Schoenbrun

Be one of the first to see this film during the Cineville Preview Days. Queer Cinema Preview in collaboration with Queer Events010!

The long-running and exhausted Camp Miasma slasher franchise is overdue for a reboot. Enter Kris (Hannah Einbinder), a young and ambitious director determined to breathe new life into the series. As part of her research, she visits the original “final girl,” Billy Presley (Gillian Anderson), who now lives a secluded life at the very camp where the films were made. As the two women form an unexpected bond, Kris finally begins to uncover her deepest desires.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is “a new kind of horror remake.” Director Jane Schoenbrun (I Saw the TV Glow) tells a deeply personal story about sexual desire, fear, and self-acceptance. The result is a deliciously entertaining cocktail that blends the excitement of Sex Education, the gore of Friday the 13th, and the humor of Scream. Welcome to Camp Miasma!

Red & green flags

Before the film, we kick off the evening with a playful and interactive audience game by Queer Events010. During the Red/Green Flag Game, we dive into the world of dating: you’ll be given red and green cards and respond to a series of relatable (and sometimes painfully funny) dating scenarios. Is it a red flag, a green flag… or would you still go on a date?

Along the way, we’ll briefly share thoughts and reactions, sparking conversations about love, dating, and queer relationships. Expect humor and an easy way to connect with others before the film starts.
