Terra Sonâmbula
Een magisch-realistische film over de gevoelige jonge Muidinga in het door oorlog verwoeste Mozambique.
Muidinga vindt een dagboek naast een lichaam. Het is het dagboek van Farida die op een oud schip op zee woont en haar zoon zoekt. Muidinga is ervan overtuigd dat hij de verloren zoon in het dagboek is. Samen met Tuahir, een oude verhalenverteller, gaat hij op zoek naar zijn moeder.
Gebaseerd op de roman Terra Sonâmbula van Mia Coute (1992) het boek kwam in 1996 voor het eerst uit in Nederland onder de titel Slaapwandelend land.

And of course the people with they’re many stories and their wealth of tradition. People who have to fight to survive, but who do so with extraordinary skill and gracefulness. They are able to laugh when they should cry and counter pain with an inner strength and belief in their own dreams. It is this remarkable ability to hold faith in life which I want to weave and form into the film of Terra Sonâmbula.”
