Edward Burtynsky staat garant voor spectaculaire landschapsfotografie. Eerder maakte hij met Jennifer Baichwal de succesvolle film Manufactured Landscapes en nu volgen we hem in zijn fotografeerwerk van water.
We vliegen over de wereld van gigantische drijvende abalone (soort oester) kwekerijen, de constructie van de Xiluodu dam, uitgedroogde woestijnen waar ooit de Colorado rivier stroomde, leerlooierijen in Dhaka en veel meer. Uiteraard ontbreekt de wijze les over de verspilling van water en de uitbuiting van de aarde aan het eind niet, maar de mooie beelden maken dat meer dan goed.

We fly of the world of gigantic floating abalones (a type of oyster) farms, the construction of the Xiluodu dam, deserts through which the Colorado River once flowed, tanneries in Dhaka and much more. It does of course include a wise lesson about water wastage and the exhaustion of the earth at the end, though the excellent images more than make up for that.
