Een poëtische, heldere blik op de materiële levenscyclussen achter de architectuur. De film werd gemaakt in samenwerking met het Brusselse ontwerpcollectief Rotor, pioniers op het gebied van materiaalhergebruik en circulair bouwen, en neemt je mee door mijnen,metaalfabrieken en materiaalverwerkingsbedrijven. Via negen korte delen zonder tekst wordt de kijker deelgenoot gemaakt van de transformatie van materialen – van grondstoffenwinning tot verwerking en hergebruik. Bêka en Lemoine laten hun camera rusten op landschappen gevormd door industrie, en op veranderende materialen. De suggestieve beelden drukken ons met de neus op de materiële werkelijkheid achter onze hedendaagse bouwindustrie.
A poetic and unflinching look at the material lifecycles behind architecture. Created in collaboration with Brussels-based design collective Rotor, pioneers in the field of material reuse and circular construction, the film traverses mines, metallurgy sites and material processing plants. Through a series of nine dialogue-free vignettes, the viewer is drawn intothe transformation of materials – from extraction to refinement and repurposing. Bêka and Lemoine’s camera lingers on the landscapes shaped by industry, and on materials in flux, presenting us with an evocative journey that challenges us to confront the material realitiesat the core of our contemporary construction industry.
