Agarrame fuerte - Expat Cinema Rotterdam

Leticia Jorge, Ana Guevara

The third feature film by Ana Guevara and Leticia Jorge (Tanta Agua) is a heartwarming, magical-realist tale about grief and enduring friendship. After the death of her closest friend, Adela embarks on a journey through time—and slowly rediscovers joy.

At Elena’s funeral, Adela feels strangely detached from the people mourning around her. The hushed voices, the cold fluorescent lighting—none of it reflects the warmth and vitality Elena brought into the world. Emotionally drained, Adela goes in search of her car, only to step into a mysterious bus that transports her back in time to a weekend at a beach house she once spent with the lively, witty Elena. They shared a passionate love for detective novels, biked along the coast, and danced the night away.

Guevara and Jorge’s third film is a magical-realist tribute to friendship—especially the deep bonds between women. It’s a story of timeless sisterhood, in which grief slowly transforms into a celebration of connection. Agárrame fuerte (Don’t You Let Me Go) premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it won the Nora Ephron Award, but never made it to Dutch cinemas.
