About the film
An eight-year-old child with the boy’s name Aitor wants to go through life as Lucía from now on. That change is not without a struggle, no matter how hard mother Ane fights for her child’s freedom to be whoever she wants. When Ane and her children return to her native village for a summer, both mother and daughter begin to stand up for a long-neglected side of their identity.

Short film Oaia Neagră (Black Sheep) will be screened prior to 20.000 Especies de Abejas. A queer filmmaker visiting a god-fearing Rumanian village falls in love with a single transgender parent. This documentary shows this does not go down well in the community. Can they flee to the Netherlands? Winner of the VPRO documentary award.
