Boonserm Premthada is een van Thailands origineelste architecten. Mede door zijn handicap, hij is zo goed als doof vanaf zijn geboorte, ontwikkelde hij een geheel eigen architectuurtaal. Net als in hun vorige film, Tokyo Ride, over architect Ryue Nishizawa, gaan de filmakers een dag op pad met de architect. Zij reizen naar plekken uit Premthada’s jeugd – hij groeide op in de slums van Bangkok. En zij bezoeken zijn spectaculairste architectuur, waaronder een uitgestrekt olifantenresort in het noorden van Thailand. Het wordt een reis door een snel veranderend land, waar de unieke ontwerpen van een uitzonderlijke architect heden en verleden met elkaar verbinden.
Boonserm Premthada is one of Thailand’s most original architects. Owing in part to his handicap – he has been practically deaf since birth – he has developed an architectural language all of his own. Just as it their last film, Tokyo Ride, about the architect Ryue Nishizawa, the filmmakers spend a day with the architect. They travel to places from Premthada’s youth – he grew up in the slums of Bangkok. And they visit his most spectacular works of architecture, including an extensive elephant resort in northern Thailand. It becomes a journey through a rapidly changing country, where the unique designs of an exceptional architect connect past and present.
