Four Daughters is the new film by Oscar-nominated director Kaouther Ben Hania (The Man Who Sold his Skin, Beauty and the Dogs). It’s a unique and poignant film that blurs the lines between documentary and fiction.

Olfa is the mother of four girls. One day, her two oldest daughters disappear. Director Kaouther Ben Hania tells the story of their disappearance alongside Olfa, her two remaining daughters, and professional actors. It’s an intimate narrative full of hope, resistance, and sorrow, depicting the clash of worlds and the essence of being a mother or sister.

Four Daughters was selected for the competition at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Best Documentary Award and the Positive Cinema Award. Both Olfa, her daughters, and the actresses take you into the family’s world, leaving you astonished at the end. Later, the film was nominated for the Oscar for Best Documentary.
