Het is niet de eerste en het zal ook niet de laatste documentaire zijn over Frank Lloyd Wright – volgens velen de grootste architect uit de Amerikaanse geschiedenis. Bijna zestig jaar na zijn dood zijn zijn ontwerpen voor het Guggenheim museum in New York, het hoofdkantoor van Johnson Wax en Fallingwater in Pennsylvania landmarks van de Amerikaanse architectuur. In deze documentaire gaat Jonathan Adams, architect uit Wales, op bezoek bij een aantal van de vijfhonderd ontwerpen om erachter te komen het geheim is van Lloyd Wrights organic architecture. Een lust voor het oog.
It’s not the first documentary about Frank Lloyd Wright, and it certainly won’t be the last film about the man that many consider the greatest architect in US history. Nearly sixty years after his death, his designs for the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Johnson Wax headquarters, and Fallingwater in Pennsylvania represent landmarks in American architecture. In this documentary, Welsh architect Jonathan Adams visited several of those 500 designs to discover the secret behind Lloyd Wright’s organic architecture. It is a delight to behold!

Charles Jencks noemde hem The Michelangelo of Kitsch, maar daar deed hij Goff, leerling van Frank Lloydd Wright toch ernstig tekort. De vele huizen die hij ontwierp getuigen van een grote fantasie en een gedegen materiaal- en constructieve kennis. Goff is een held en zijn Ford huis getuigt daarvan.
Charles Jencks called him ‘the Michelangelo of Kitsch’, but that did not do justice to Goff, apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright. The multitude of houses that he designed exemplify a great imagination and solid knowledge of materials and construction practices. Goff is a hero, and his Ford house is a testimony to that.
