In the treacherous forests forming the so-called ‘green border’ between Belarus and Poland, refugees attempting to reach Europe through this route find themselves stranded in a cold, marshy no man’s land without food or medical care, as Belarus encourages the border crossing to undermine the EU while Poland refuses entry. Meanwhile, the lives of activist Julia, border guard Jan, and a Syrian family intertwine as pawns in a political game.

Despite a hate campaign from the populist government, Agnieszka Holland’s Green Border became a major success with both audiences and critics in Poland, dominating the public poll at the 2024 International Film Festival Rotterdam and ultimately winning the coveted Audience Award.
