The River and the Wall is an epic journey along a 1,200-mile stretch of the Mexican-American border. The film explores the social and ecological consequences of the wall that Donald Trump wants to build there. Ben Masters travels with four friends on horseback and mountain bike and by canoe for two and a half months through the Texan wilderness. From El Paso, the safest city in America at the time, they travel through unspoilt nature reserves through the Rio Grande to the Gulf of Mexico. On their journey they talk to illegal immigrants and politicians, painting a spectacular picture of a fascinating ecosystem and the disastrous consequences of the wall
