Liefdevol wordt de dagelijkse routine gevolgd van de 93-jarige architect Gottfried Böhm, beroemd vanwege zijn betonarchitectuur, zoals de brutalistische kerk in Neviges. Gottfried was kleinzoon en zoon van architecten en alle drie zijn zonen zijn dat ook. Deze unieke familie vertegenwoordigt een mooie doorsnede van de Duitse architectuurgeschiedenis.
De film documenteert de ontmoetingen met zijn familie, oud-collega’s en de inspiratie voor zijn werk. De keuzes van de drie zoons leiden soms tot spanningen tussen vader en zoons.
