Hytti Nro 6- Expat Cinema Rotterdam

Juho Kuosmanen

Miss seeing international films because you can’t yet keep up with the Dutch subtitles? Want to meet fellow expats and new Dutch folks? Love cinema? Then this is the event for you! Curated international films with English subtitles & meetup drinks afterwards.

When a romantic relation ends, Finnish Laura decides to leave Moscow. She takes the train to Murmansk, a Russian city in the upper northwest of the country. During this long trip Laura has to share her compartment with the rude and brash Russian miner Ljoha.

As the wheels of the train keep rolling, both strangers let their guard down a bit. Laura and Ljoha seem to have more in common than they thought, and build a surprising connection which lends Laura a new perspective on her life.

Hyttti Nro 6 (Finnish for ‘Compartment number 6’) is the second film from Finnish director Juho Kuosmanen. Kuosmanen is a Cannes-darling: his debut The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Maki was a jury favorite at the 2016 edition of the Cannes Film Festival and last year Hytti Nro 6 won the Grand Prix at Cannes. The film is also the Finnish submission for the Oscars.
